My father once told me that anyone who worked for three dollars an hour owed it to himself to put in four dollars’ worth of work.
Learning is a daily experience and a lifetime mission. I truly believe in the saying, “We work to become, not to acquire.”
Bill Russell (born 1934) is a former professional basketball player in the United States. Before he embarked on a highly successful career in the NBA, he played on teams which won two national collegiate championships as well as an Olympic gold medal. As a professional player, he played on 11 championship teams with the Boston Celtics.
My Dad, and I, would concur with this quote and post!

Wonderful! Your Dad seems like my type of guy. We can never overlook teaching others about the need for a quiet work ethic and an unlimited craving to learn.

Absolutely! A quiet work ethic takes you far (and I have an unlimited craving to learn!). Yes, you two would get along wonderfully! He’s a retired superintendent, history teacher, coach, and is in Missouri’s Hall of Fame for fast pitch softball. He’s an overcomer! Two cancers, brain surgery for two aneurysms, and congestive heart failure. I stayed the weekend with them. He’s my hero. He’ll only be 80 in a couple of months~and currently is experiencing severe stomach pain. He has a scan tomorrow and a scope on Thursday. We are praying no cancer again!

two great quotes. Russell was the nemesis to my 76ers and Wilt Chamberlain…

Thank you Jim. We both remember the rivalry between Philly and Boston as well as Chamberlain facing off against Russell.

Russell seemed to have Chamberlain’s number…

Russell had a lot of player’s numbers. Just ask Jerry West.

Love this work attitude: “My father once told me that anyone who worked for three dollars an hour owed it to himself to put in four dollars’ worth of work.”

It certainly says a lot. Our youth need to embrace a strong and effective work ethic.
