Without Faith

From Hebrews 11:6:  “And without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever would approach Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.”

Living without faith

Never pleasing to God

Scripture grows musty

Seeing life as a fraud

Lacking true knowledge

Missing God’s living Word

Whole heart feels empty

Running with the wrong herd

Callous attitude

Faith absent, lonesome walk

Mind unbelieving

AWOL from Shepherd’s flock

Holy Trinity

Faith’s long forgotten light

Father, Son, Spirit

Blessed angels take flight

From Proverbs 3:5:  “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight.”

The simple fact is this:  If we sow a lifestyle that is in direct disobedience to God’s revealed Word, we ultimately reap disaster.

From Romans 6:15:  “What then?  Should we sin because we are not under the law, but under grace?  By no means!”

Finding New Life

From 2 Corinthians 11:13-14:  “For such boasters are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.  And no wonder!  Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.”

Facing life’s harshest trials

Walking uphill in shadows

Keeping on the proper trail

Coveting greener meadows

Suffering darkest ordeals

Praying for divine advice

Listening for God’s response

Willing to pay any price

Hiding off the path, waiting

Offering cunning, false hope

Sliding into Satan’s net

Reaching up for rescue’s rope

Clutching God’s forgiving hand

Leaving the enemy’s grip

Finding new life with the Lord

Walking in His fellowship

From Romans 6:22-23:  “But now that you have been freed from sin and enslaved to God, the advantage you get is sanctification.  The end is eternal life.  For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Monday Memories: God’s Compass

Photo by Aman Jakhar on Pexels.com

Lost soul in the wickedest valleys of life

Needing directions, take away this strife

Life’s transgressions mount, God knows them all

Living a life of denial, witnessing an arrogant fall

Every day takes one deeper and deeper into sin

Losing awareness, asking where have we been?

When born, God knows our sinful ways

Needing Him to teach wisdom each day

Life continues to carry us on the very same road

Walking and falling, becomes frustrating and cold

God delivers His judgement, He feels justified

Viewing our sin-filled cravings, never satisfied

Life’s journey demands we find a different route

Using God’s compass, His directions carry clout

God brings deliverance, a better means to live

Declaring praise to our Lord, offerings to give

Another wayward life takes a detour from the Pit

Cleansing of sin, God’s road creates a better fit

God teaches an upright way, follow and trust

Purging all evil, washing white our sinful lust

God’s steadfast love delivers a redeeming route

Hearing God’s joy, His compass brings us about

Abandon Your Ways

From John 3:5:  “Jesus answered, “Very truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit.”

Living a dark life of sin

Failing to follow God’s Word

Walking as slaves in the flesh

“Abandon your ways” . . . unheard

Falling, ignoring our Lord

Leaving Him for empty thoughts

Taking our path, darkness prowls

Sinful hunger calls the shots

Consumed by life in the flesh

There awaits a better way

God never abandons us

Offering His Grace each day

God gives Himself entirely

Spirit marches to our hearts

Delivers His greatest gift

God’s Son offers a fresh start

Christ becomes our foundation

Jesus walking where we walk

Exchanging His life for us

Shepherd gathering His flock

From John 3:16-17:  “For God so loved the world that He gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not perish but may have eternal life.  Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him.”

You can drift into sin, but not into righteousness.

From Romans 5:18:  “Therefore just as one man’s trespass led to condemnation for all, so one man’s act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all.”

Chains Broken and Free

From Titus 3:4-7:  “But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we had done, but according to His mercy, through the water of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.  This Spirit He poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”

Running life’s perpetual marathon

Searching for finish line, never in sight

Scaling boundless mountains, summits hidden

Paddling always upstream, with all our might

Living foolishly through sin-filled choices

Thinking daily good works shall pay our way

Falling down exhausted, never enough

Realizing God brings His goodness each day

Loving us with kindness, comes the Father

Giving to us freely, eternal Grace

Sharing His Holy Word, wrapped in mercy

Renewing Holy Spirit will embrace

Chained in darkness as unrighteous sinners

Witnessing now—a mournful, blood-stained tree

Paying for our life’s transgressions in full

Accepting Jesus, chains broken and free

From the words of American pastor and Christian teacher, Charles Stanley:  “There is only one way to receive our heavenly Father’s favor, and that’s by faith in His Son, who did all the work for us.”

Evidence of new birth is that we see the rule of God.

From James 4:7-8:  “Submit yourselves therefore to God.  Resist the devil, and he will flee you.  Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.  Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”

Living Water

Photo by Alexander Zvir on Pexels.com

What dark depths dwell in our lives?

Sinful nature, lost like sheep

Hearts fill with lasting troubles

Seeing life’s well, much too deep

Returning without promise

Jacob’s well cannot quench thirst

Our parched lips, where’s our relief?

Sinful souls, ready to burst

God’s Grace, in living water

Blessing in truth and spirit

Gushing with eternal life

Drink deeply, never fear it

Who will bring us this water?

We look, but the well is deep

Jesus draws living water

Saving His lost, thirsty sheep

Photo by Anni Roenkae on Pexels.com

From John 4:11-15:  “The woman said to Him, ‘Sir, you have no bucket, and the well is deep. Where do you get that living water?  Are you greater than our ancestor Jacob, who gave us the well, and with his sons and his flocks drank from it?’  Jesus said to her, ‘Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but those who drink of the water that I will give them will never be thirsty. The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.’  The woman said to Him, ‘Sir, give me this water, so that I may never be thirsty or have to keep coming here to draw water.'”

Take a really honest look at your walk.  Are there any areas where old sins have begun to take control again?

From Psalm 19:14:  “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.”
