God always shows up.  He always saves.  He always rescues.  His timing is not ours.  His methods are unusually unconventional.

From James 4:8:  “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.  Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”

Angela Thomas Pharr (born 1962) is an American Christian writer.

Like a welcome summer rain, humor may suddenly cleanse and cool the earth, the air, and you.

Let America be America, where equality is in the air we breath.

Langston Hughes (1901-1967) was an American writer and social activist.  He was an influential leader of the Harlem Renaissance.

God brings men into deep waters not to drown them, but to cleanse them.

From Hebrews 10:22-23:  “Let us approach with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.  Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who has promised is faithful.”

James H. Aughey (1828-1911) was an American minister.  During the Civil War, he was imprisoned and scheduled to be executed for his anti-Secession and pro-Union beliefs.  Fortunately, he was able to escape from his Confederate captors and reached the lines of the Union army.

Sometimes, we need a housecleaning of the heart.

From Ezekiel 36:26:  “A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you, and I will remove from your body the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”

Catherine Marshall (1914-1983) was an American author who wrote about Christian inspiration as well as other nonfiction and fiction works.
