Take a really honest look at your walk.  Are there any areas where old sins have begun to take control again?

From Psalm 19:14:  “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.”

We are faced with a series of great opportunities, brilliantly disguised as unsolvable problems.  Unsolvable without God’s wisdom, that is.

From Psalm 34:19:  “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord rescues them from them all.”

Solitude is an oasis of the soul where we see ourselves, others, and especially our God in new ways.  God, who probes our deepest thoughts during protracted segments of solitude, opens our eyes to things that need attention.

From Psalm 94:19:  “When cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.”

When you’re hungry and weary and thirsty in the wilderness, that’s when a friend comes through.  You don’t even need to ask.  They just do it.  This is faith in action.

From Proverbs 17:17:  “A friend loves at all times, and kinsfolk are born to share adversity.”

If you want to make an impact on the world around you, this rugged society that is moving in the wrong direction more rapidly every year, Christ said, “love one another.”  Your love will speak with stunning eloquence to a lost world.

From John 13:35:  “[Jesus said] By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

There must be complete and unqualified reliance on the Living Lord.  In other words, one must develop the discipline of surrender.

From Psalm 62:5:  “For God alone my soul waits in silence, for my hope is from Him.”

The Lord is our God.  He does bow to our hurried pace, but in silence He waits for us to meet His demands.

From Psalm 113:3:  “From the rising of the sun to its setting the name of the Lord is to be praised.”

So if you want to smile through your tears, if you want to rejoice through times of suffering, just keep reminding yourself that, as a Christian, what you’re going through isn’t the end of the story . . . it’s simply the rough journey that leads to the right destination.

From Psalm 106:3:  “Happy are those who observe justice, who do righteousness at all times.”

Under heaven’s lock and key, we are protected by the most efficient security system available–the power of God.

From 1 Peter 1:5:  By this great mercy He [God] has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ . . . and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and  unfading, kept in heaven for you, who are being protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”
