Brother Lawrence (1614-1691) lived in France where he served as a lay brother in a monastery in Paris. He is best remembered for his intimate relationship with God.

I often whisper my prayers as I go into tough situations, knowing God is hearing me. And when I had a stroke, I could not speak at all but I was praying in my heart and mind in the ambulance ride to the hospital. God is listening for our prayers and always hears them!
