Elmer L. Towns Quote

Just as my mother reminded me to live up to the reputation of my family name, we all need to be reminded to live up to the reputation of of the name of Jesus.

From Philippians 2:9-10:  “Therefore God exalted Him even more highly and gave Him the name that is above every other name, so that at the name given to Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth.”

Elmer L. Towns (born 1932) is an American pastor and Christian writer.  Along with Jerry Falwell, he co-founded Liberty University in 1971.

Together as One

From Deuteronomy 5:12-14:  “Observe the Sabbath day and keep it holy, as the Lord your God commanded you.  Six days you shall labor and do all your work.  But the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work.”

From 2 Corinthians 4:5-6:  “For we do not proclaim ourselves; we proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and ourselves as your slaves for Jesus’s sake.  For it is the God who said, ‘Light will shine out of darkness,’ who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.”

John Gibson Paton Quote

I shall never taste a deeper bliss, till I gaze on the glorified face of Jesus himself.

From Revelation 22:3-4:  “Nothing accursed will be found there any more.  But the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His servants will worship Him; they will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads.”

John Gibson Paton (1824-1907) was a Scottish-born Christian missionary who lived and served the Lord in the South Pacific.

Monday Memories: Worship and Praise

From John 4:23-24:  [Jesus is speaking] “But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such as these to worship Him.  God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

William Tyndale Quote

Photo by Mike B on Pexels.com

To have a faith, therefore, or a trust in anything, where God hath not promised, is plain idolatry, and a worshipping of thine own imagination instead of God.

From Deuteronomy 5:8:  “You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above or that is on the earth beneath or that is in the water under the earth.”

William Tyndale (c. 1494 – c.1536) was an English Biblical scholar and linguist.  He became a leading figure in the Protestant Reformation, and his writings were influenced by the thoughts shared from fellow reformer Martin Luther.
