Angel’s Message

Photo by Brett Sayles on Pexels.com

Summer’s radiant warmth fills the morning air

Playing children scamper, filling simple cares

Park trees arising with lively hues, bounty of dreams

Dancing shadows flowing beneath, moving like streams

People come and go, some stay for more

Singing above, summer birds fly and soar

Empty benches welcome many, resting a spell

Inviting a gray-haired man to sit now and dwell

Images scurry around him, some only in his mind

Remembering yesteryears, when all felt defined

Career, money, and power once meeting his needs

Sitting all alone now, like ancient dried-up reeds

One detail has been missing in his life

Leaving God has wounded like a knife

Alone, feeling forsaken, helpless at times

Living a life, nothing richer than springtime

Laughing and carefree, small children bring him joy

Filling his empty heart, much like a brand new toy

At God’s chosen bench, now sharing with a stranger

Smiling, a lady shares about a stable’s Holy manger

She notices him here quite often, sitting all alone

Inspired by God’s love, now enters his quiet zone

This visit and chat create sweet treasures

Sharing God’s Word, true by any measure

Jesus’ message of Salvation brings honest light

Kneeling, the old man accepts his Holy might

This worn bench brings God to a lonely heart

Allowing this man, a fresh and bold restart

Her assignment being fulfilled, now time to travel on

Replenishing this man’s heart with Grace and a song

Many others arrive at this park every day

Missing out on what this angel has to say

Hallelujah!

From Luke 2:1-7:  “In those days a decree went out from Emperor Augustus that all the world should be registered.  This was the first registration and was taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria.  All went to their own towns to be registered.  Joseph also went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was descended from the house and family of David.  He went to be registered with Mary, to whom he was engaged and who was expecting a child.  While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child.  And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.”

Hallelujah!

Angels sing, from heavens above

Glory forever, to a newborn King

Praising Emmanuel, as they sing

Hallelujah!

Virgin Mary, mother to this Son

Jesus will be His blessed name

This world, never to be the same

Hallelujah!

Born in a bustling hamlet, Bethlehem

Chiseled in history, forever renowned

Baby in a manger, shepherds found

Hallelujah!

God with us, in flawless human form

Walking in our steps, we will trust

Witnessing a Cross, our Savior must

Hallelujah!

God lifts the veil of His great plan

His Son will bear our bloody sins

Forever, God’s flock will say “Amen”

Hallelujah!

All bow, take a bended knee

Praise our Savior in prayer

Darkness leaves, Jesus cares

Hallelujah!

God’s divine, sacrificial plan

Jesus comes in person, to save

He overpowers sin and the grave

Hallelujah!

Birth of this blessed, Holy child

Peace and joy, we will follow Him

His righteousness, a lasting hymn

Ease This Pain

From Isaiah 49:13:  “Sing for joy, O heavens, and exult, O earth; break forth, O mountains, into singing!  For the Lord has comforted His people, and will have compassion on His suffering ones.”

Does anyone truly feel my pain tonight?

Feeling run over, with nothing to gain

Nightly tears and torment, dark dreams take flight

Who can reach out with love to ease this pain?

Feeling without life, bleak and cold numbness

A distant, yet strong voice comes close to thee

Light creeps over the horizon’s darkness

Listen!  Hear His voice, kneeling on my knees

God’s Holy Word soothes agonizing pain

Turning to listen, He’s never been gone

Leaving oneself with so much love to gain

Now praising my Lord, life hums a new song

My Lord, my God—His mercy comforts thee

Lasting hope, opens eyes forever to see

This poem was inspired by a few of the lyrics from the song “Comfortably Numb” by Pink Floyd.  A fellow blogger shared this song, and my poetic craft found a way to bring some of the song into this Christian poem.  God inspires!

Daily Prayer

Photo by Tima Miroshnichenko on Pexels.com

Dear Lord

Make me a man

Of fervent prayer

God’s Holy Word

Commands me to pray

Without ceasing

Encourage me

To bring everything

To you my Lord

When discouraged

Let me pray

You are my refuge

When joyful

Let me offer

Prayers of thanksgiving

In all things

Great and small

At all times

Whether happy or sad

Let me seek

Your wisdom and grace

Amen

Today, may God bring you the courage to ask him for guidance.  Ask Him to lead you to a “right” place.

Everlasting Road

I am a solitary man traveling on an empty road

My life journey’s been an awfully heavy load

I yearn to walk a few more miles by the end of this day

My battered and worn shoes have so very much to say

I survive by myself after all of these long years

My past is filled with disappointments and tears

I have met few along this road who even say “hello”

My disheveled appearance keeps eyes looking low

I look ahead to what this day will offer to me

My weakened eyes make it challenging to see

I would welcome a hot meal and a warm shower

My bag of jerky will need to nourish for hours

I feel my energy running low on fuel just the same

My mind tries to stay alert as if playing a new game

I wish to stop by this large sycamore tree

My eyes can rest under its shade for free

I will rest and relax in peace along this quiet road

My journey will soon be finished, yet I never slowed

I will continue my peaceful trek down a lonesome route

My days are numbered, but I remain strong and stout

I am ready to meet my Lord on His righteous terms

His everlasting spirit brings much for me to affirm
