Writer’s Reflections

Working through one creative mind

Marking day’s journey with words

Discovering everyday joy

Sometimes thoughts need to be stirred

Writing breathes through life’s marathon

Joining one more puzzle piece

Painting another sketch to share

Sometimes thoughts stir words’ new lease

Picking one theme to create from

Pouring forth from active voice

Sharing words’ unique perspective

Sometimes thoughts stir sharpest choice

Gathering daily momentum

Setting comfortable pace

Harvesting each page filled with words

Sometimes thoughts stir one more chase

Something

Browsing life’s sketches

With another day

Searching for patterns

Something waits to say

Framing every word

With another thought

Discovering joy

Something ties each knot

Tasting sweet moments

With another page

Blending heartfelt dreams

Something comes of age

Leaving nest empty

With another flight

Seeking novel themes

Something waits to write

Plotting new sketches

With another scene

Finding new patterns

Something stirs, unseen

Every morning I take a few quick minutes to complete a mini crossword puzzle.  The short journey helps to focus the mind on my next task.  Of course, my thoughts may be pulling together a theme for a new writing sketch as a poem or short story.

John Steinbeck Quotes

A man without words is a man without thought.

Ideas are like rabbits.  You get a couple and learn to handle them, and pretty soon you have a dozen.

John Steinbeck (1902-1968) was an American writer.  As an author of nearly three dozen books, he was recognized for his ability to bring realism into each one with keen perception and imagination.  In 1962, he earned the Nobel Prize for Literature.

Daily Reflections

Captured segments from the early pages of my journal, provide the energy for this poem.  Life’s reflections can come from anywhere, deal with any topic, and occur at any time.

Journal’s reflections speak out

Expressions ready to sprout

True, unconditional love

Hearing praise singing high above

Wise teaching comes from many

Grandparents offer plenty

Life’s happiness embraces

From unexpected places

Art expressed in many ways

Imagination ablaze

Dark, stormy clouds chased away

Rainbow arrives, set to play

Negativity removed

Positivity approved

Passion no longer alive

How will our tomorrow thrive?

Parents watching with delight

Children making day so bright

Finally, returning home

Prized memories always roam
