Life
Distant memory
Winter’s breath melted away—
Rebirth springing up

Joy
Crisp April morning
Afternoon promises warmth—
Daffodils dancing

Peace
Sun’s setting calmness
Another night, nature rests—
Guaranteed sunrise

I smiled especially at the second haiku. I sometimes think of April as the clothes-changing month. I can start working in the morning with long pants and a jacket, and by noon I’ve changed into capris and a tee shirt. I don’t fuss — I’m willing to wait as long as possible for our blast furnace summer.

Linda, thank you for sharing. I agree with you about holding on to springtime for as long as possible. There will always be summer’s heat, and let’s hope it waits for a good number of weeks.

April where I live means some warm days, some stormy days, some rainy days, but it is all fun

Matt, I’m going to emphasize the word “fun.” We definitely need to celebrate winter’s final goodbye.

Our daffodils have begun to burst forth, as if the earth itself is exhaling joy after a long winter.

Wonderful! Our daffodils showed up about on schedule, but untimely frost has taken its toll. More flowers will show up for us to embrace.

I like that winter is a distant memory already. Perfectly stated!

Vickie, thank you for sharing your pleasure in seeing winter’s grip disappear. Back in my home state of Montana, winter returned to the southwestern region last night. At least the mountain snowpack is smiling.

My daughter had snow yesterday and today in northern PA, so I totally understand.
