Leaves falling early
Nature witnesses drought
Farmers’ harvest dwindles
Future seeming in doubt
Nation in crisis
Hopeful news faces drought
Today fills with darkness
Tomorrow seeks fresh route
World’s chaos deepens
Suffocated in drought
Actions for peace missing
Voices of anguish sprout
Leaves filling with green
Rainfall erases drought
Farmers’ outlook restored
Future transformed from doubt
Nation’s common ground
Compromise quelling drought
Hope’s spirit rekindled
Tomorrow walks new route
World commits to peace
Goodwill overcomes drought
Togetherness . . . one goal
Voices of courage sprout

Praise God for refreshing living water exactly when needed. Your words are beautiful.

Your poem expresses the precarious life of a farmer quite well. 🙂

Nancy, I taught many years in northeastern Montana before moving to Ohio. The sometimes precarious journey of farmers and ranchers is sometimes very much on my mind.

I was just reading in my devotional about the three years of drought when Elijah prayed. Prayer changes things, from rain to dry and from dry to rain, but always in God’s timing. I like the theme of your verses of people working together to make a difference for each other.

Vickie, thank you for sharing this Biblical perspective about prayer. Indeed, God’s timing is in His blessed hands.

What our country needs is hope in the middle of the mess in our country and we also need to see others the way Christ sees us

Jim, I agree with your sentiments. I’ve been holding this poem for publication, but sometimes there really isn’t a right moment to publish it. I hope readers can embrace some type of thread from reading.
