Cherishing small towns
America’s gift
Community pride
Life never adrift
Welcoming Main Street
Absent traffic lights
Community hub
Unique stores excite
People greet with “hello”
Strangers become friends
Community loves
Caring’s dividends
Close-knit neighborhoods
Immaculate yards
Community joy
Beauty fills postcards
Town’s crowning jewel
School engages minds
Community guides
Students’ daily grind
White wood-framed churches
God’s daily footprint
Community prays
Town’s faithful blueprint

Small town cafes usually have good food

I agree with you Matt. Some of the best hole-in-the-wall places to eat are found there.

Lovely poem with such truisms! We were in Virginia City at the ice cream shop with our friends last week. We walked the two blocks of Main Street (up one side and down the other), greeting strangers (friends we hadn’t met yet), and lingered five minutes too long – – – got caught in a hailstorm! Oh, what a downpour!!

Jan, thanks for sharing your visit to Virginia City. I’ve been to the ice cream shop as well. The pace of life there suits me fine. I hope you found a dry place for shelter.

I was raised in a small town. (Actually on a farm near a small town). This poem brings back fond memories!

I raised my three daughters in a small town, and it was a blessing to see them grow up there.

Wonderful! For most of my teaching career, I lived and taught in smaller communities. Blessings to you and your family.
