We need to learn this secret of the burning heart.  When God gives a vision, transact business on that line, no matter what it costs.

From Luke 24:30-32:  [On the road to Emmaus] “When He was at the table with them, He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them.  Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized Him; and He vanished from their sight.  They said to each other, ‘Were not our hearts burning within us while He was talking to us on the road, while He was opening the scriptures to us?'”

Finding New Life

From 2 Corinthians 11:13-14:  “For such boasters are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.  And no wonder!  Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.”

Facing life’s harshest trials

Walking uphill in shadows

Keeping on the proper trail

Coveting greener meadows

Suffering darkest ordeals

Praying for divine advice

Listening for God’s response

Willing to pay any price

Hiding off the path, waiting

Offering cunning, false hope

Sliding into Satan’s net

Reaching up for rescue’s rope

Clutching God’s forgiving hand

Leaving the enemy’s grip

Finding new life with the Lord

Walking in His fellowship

From Romans 6:22-23:  “But now that you have been freed from sin and enslaved to God, the advantage you get is sanctification.  The end is eternal life.  For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Monday Memories: God’s Compass

Lost soul in the wickedest valleys of life

Needing directions, take away this strife

Life’s transgressions mount, God knows them all

Living a life of denial, witnessing an arrogant fall

Every day takes one deeper and deeper into sin

Losing awareness, asking where have we been?

When born, God knows our sinful ways

Needing Him to teach wisdom each day

Life continues to carry us on the very same road

Walking and falling, becomes frustrating and cold

God delivers His judgement, He feels justified

Viewing our sin-filled cravings, never satisfied

Life’s journey demands we find a different route

Using God’s compass, His directions carry clout

God brings deliverance, a better means to live

Declaring praise to our Lord, offerings to give

Another wayward life takes a detour from the Pit

Cleansing of sin, God’s road creates a better fit

God teaches an upright way, follow and trust

Purging all evil, washing white our sinful lust

God’s steadfast love delivers a redeeming route

Hearing God’s joy, His compass brings us about

Receiving God’s eternal glory

Filling us with His mercy and love

Declaring salvation through His Grace

Singing with praise, like a morning dove

Blessing His name, our most awesome Lord

Stepping forward, showing gratitude

Honoring His Holy righteousness

Extolling His patient fortitude

Sending forth His Word, filled with goodness

Guiding lives from high Heaven above

Creating breathtaking tranquility

Abounding with lasting, steadfast love

Proclaiming His infinite greatness

Praying to the Father, praise His name

Lauding His glorious, wondrous works

Declaring our Lord’s mighty acclaim

The German-inspired poetry style of Elfchen (or Elevenie) contains five lines of poetic verse, usually without the use of rhyming verses.  A total of 11 words are used with a sequence of one, two, three, and four words before ending with a single word in the final verse.

Trusting Him Alone

From Psalm 62:8:  “Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.”

Sometimes waiting in silence

Seeking refuge, filled with hope

Salvation comes from the Lord

Conquers life’s slippery slope

All power resides in God

Filled with sacred, steadfast love

Eternal rock and fortress

Deliverance from above

Learning to always trust Him

Faith in God, speaking twofold

Earthly affairs, trusting God

Heavenly business, behold

Enemy of darkness plots

Lives of idleness, He seeks

All times, rely on the Lord

Prudence, uprightness shall speak

Our ship defies windy storms

Dark impulses, pushed aside

Journey on God’s trusted path

Faithful steps, He’s alongside

Conscience never contradicts

Casting burdens, hear the Lord

Serve Him with integrity

Heart fixed, trusting His accord

From the words of British pastor, Charles Spurgeon:  “There is no more blessed way of living than a life of dependence upon a covenant-keeping God.”

God is in full control.  Nothing is happening on earth that brings a surprise to Heaven.  Nothing is outside the scope of His divine radar screen as He guides us safely home.

From 1 Timothy 1:17:  “To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever.  Amen.”

Praise and Glory

From Psalm 86:12:  “I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever.”

Sovereign God from heaven

Filled with all praise and glory

Grace-filled salvation beckons

True author of Creation

God of love with healing touch

Destined for praise and glory

Always faithful in the clutch

From morning into the night

Eternal praise and glory

Guiding, leading with passion

Always hearing our voices

Observing our helplessness

Love-inspired praise and glory

Confessing to our Father

Proclaiming His perfect power

Sharing His praise and glory

His faithful love never sours

Seeking God in our distress

Cast each idol in the fire

Grace-filling praise and glory

Holy Spirit never tires

From Galatians 5:22-24:  “By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  There is no law against such things.  And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.”

John Calvin Quote

Photo by GEORGE DESIPRIS on Pexels.com

Seeing that a Pilot steers the ship in which we sail, who will never allow us to perish even in the midst of shipwrecks, there is no reason why our minds should be overwhelmed with fear and overcome with weariness.

From Psalm 55:22:  “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never permit the righteous to be moved.”
