All of history looks back at that moment–to the tragedy and triumph of that cross. First the crucifixion, then the resurrection of the Son of God.
From Romans 5:8: “God proves His love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us.”
When was the last time you thanked the Lord for not showing you the future? Just think of all the stuff you didn’t have to worry about just because you never knew it was coming your way.
From Psalm 31:14-15: “But I trust in you, O Lord; I say, ‘You are my God.’ My times are in your hand; deliver me from the hand of my enemies and persecutors.”
Our part. Trust God wholeheartedly, in every corner of life, recognizing that He is the One in charge.
From Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.”
Having a contagious, positive attitude toward God does not mean living unrealistically where you tell everybody nice, upbeat things all the time, whether they are true or not.
From Joel 3:16: “The Lord roars from Zion, and utters his voice from Jerusalem, and the heavens and the earth shake. But the Lord is a refuge for His people, a stronghold for the people of Israel.”
The cause of disillusionment is putting one’s complete hope and trust in people. What’s the cure? Putting our complete hope and trust in the living Lord.
From Psalm 71:5: “For you, O Lord, are my hope, my trust, O Lord, from my youth.”
Infectiously joyful believers have no trouble convincing people around them that Christianity is real and that Christ can transform a life.
From Philippians 4:4-5: “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near.”
Though I have walked with God for several decades, I must confess I still find much about Him incomprehensible and mysterious. But this much I know: He delights in surprising us. He dots our pilgrimage from earth to heaven with amazing serendipities.
From Psalm 145:16: “You open your hand, satisfying the desire of every living thing.”
On each occasion when we observe the Lord’s Table . . . we are not simply to feel or to read or to hear or to see, but to take into our very bodies the taste of our Savior’s sacrifice.
From Psalm 34:8: “O taste and see that the Lord is good; happy are those who take refuge in Him.”
There are four words I wish we would never forget, and they are, “God keeps His word.” You can trust Him.
From Psalm 145:9: “The Lord is good to all, and His compassion is over all that He has made.”
Joy is a choice. It is a matter of attitude that stems from one’s confidence in God.
From Psalm 16:11: “You show me the path of life. In your presence there is fullness of joy; in your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
