Life’s New Spin
Uncertainty stirs
School bell rings with excitement–
Hello Mister Hink

This Haiku honors my sixth grade teacher, Mr. Hink. (The photo isn’t him, but he always wore a tie)
Time to Buckle Down
Listening to tunes
“Please put your device away”—
Back in the saddle

What’s the Big Rush?
“Hurry Doug, hurry”
Yellow bus driving away—
“My record’s perfect”

Beautiful poem and share as always Richard. School days are fond memories for me as well. Thank you for the great reminder. Blessings to you.

Suzette, thank you for reading and sharing these reflections. A writer appreciates the timeless voice found in each uncovered memory.

Beautifully said, Richard. That is so true. It is that voice, I feel, that spurs the writer on to keep on writing.

Brings back good memories of being a student and then a teacher. My “Mr. Hinks” was named Glenn Sellars. He was my math teacher for four years. He also always wore a tie along with a smile.

Vickie, thank you for sharing Mr. Sellars. It’s a fascinating journey to uncover some of my teachers from the past. Amazingly, many are still influencing me, even after many years.
