Sunset frames day’s end
Horizon returns light
Spirit shutters wind
Dreams ready to take flight
Beyond nightly moon
Every hour, beaming bright
Peace transcends below
Full of joyous delight
Distant, twinkling star
Suspended, flying kite
Hope gathers above
Darkness sparkles, all white
Breath of wayward cloud
Blocking out moon’s eyesight
Gentle breeze exhales
Skies brighten, rest of night
Final hour’s countdown
Horizon preps rewrite
Plot thickens again
Sunrise swaps out moonlight

The last stanza really tops off this beautiful poem. This line is especially singular: “Horizon preps rewrite”

What a beautiful reminder that night’s darkness never is wholly dark. There’s always light of one variety or another to delight the eye and spirit.

Linda, I appreciate your view of the contrast found in the night sky. Another night shares an original creation.

I really like how you portray sunrise here. I just sent a message to my son and DIL about the “pink moon” this weekend. I hope that they can see it in MD and I hope you get a chance to gaze at it, too. It’s supposed to be just before sunset on Saturday evening.

Vickie, thank you for sharing. Colleen and I caught an unhindered view of the moon on our drive home. The usually cloudy Ohio sky departed to offer us a brilliant look.

Your last line is a good finale: “Sunlight swaps out moonlight.” 🙂
