Believers who are growing toward maturity share in mutual feelings–mutual woes and mutual joys.  This is one of the best benefits of being part of the body of Christ and a major reason why we need to be involved in a local church.

From Romans 12:15:  “Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.”

Quit wasting energy fighting the inescapable and turn your energy to keeping the right attitude.

From Psalm 131:1-2:  “O Lord, my heart is not lifted up, my eyes are not raised too high; I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me.

Take the word “coincidental” out of your vocabulary, along with “luck.”  You can trash them both!  You don’t need them anymore.  Nothing is coincidental!  “Luck” has no place in a Christian’s vocabulary.

From Joel 2:26:  “You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, who has dealt wondrously with you.”

Our Lord is searching for people who will make a difference.  Christians dare not dissolve into the background or blend into the neutral scenery of the world.

From Deuteronomy 31:8:  “It is the Lord who goes before you.  He will be with you; He will not fail or forsake you.  Do not fear or be dismayed.”

Fortunately, God has given us a magnificent solution that can make a difference.  I call these fourteen words the secret of celebrating life:  “forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on.”

From Philippians 3:13-14:  “Beloved, I do not consider that I have made it my own; but this one thing I do:  forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus.”

God is our refuge, and what comfort that brings.  When you read the next headline, and it tells of some event that you and I would call tragic, He is a very present help.

From Psalm 46:1:  “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

Let’s deliberately aim to become more intimately acquainted with Christ.  With Christ.  With Him and Him alone!

From Matthew 6:33:  Jesus is speaking, “But strive first for the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

God has given us a purpose for our existence, a reason to go on, even though that existence includes tough times.

From Psalm 107:19:  “Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress.”

There is no quality more godlike than humility.  Nothing is more admirable, more godlike than being willing to live out true humility . . . without calling attention to it.

From Proverbs 28:25:  “An arrogant man stirs up strife, but he who trusts in the Lord will prosper.”
