Time on the Road

Aging a bit and hoping to keep my driving days alive

I can’t help it but laugh at how my troubles thrive

Driving on a dark, blackened road with high beams on

I didn’t dim my headlights because I was singing a song

Driving on an icy road too slippery for my car to fly

The windshield wipers shout and say, “Dumb Guy!”

Driving a bit too fast through a school zone

Well officer . . . at least I wasn’t on my phone

Driving on a crowded freeway, feeling more like mice

I hear a car horn blare out loud, which isn’t very nice

Driving through a minefield of ugly, nasty potholes

I pull over to find a tire flattened with a huge hole

Driving home at the end of a long day, without even a grin

I’m stuck in heavy commuter traffic . . . oh my, not again

Reaching the end of my stressful travels for today

I hope my driving goes much better on another day
