Curious Trivial Facts

This is a new type of post, which will be posted on Saturday along with my usual writing.  We can all appreciate some of the lesser known facts from around the world.

Mockingbirds traditionally mimic the sounds and songs of other birds, but mockingbirds found in New York City have been known to imitate police sirens, car alarms, buses, and the beeping of garbage trucks being driven in reverse.

When Herman Melville’s classic, Moby Dick, was first published in America, it bombed, selling only 3,797 copies in its first thirty-six years in print.

These facts have been discovered in I NEVER KNEW THAT by David Hoffman (2009).
