This is a new type of post, which will be posted on Saturday along with my usual writing. We can all appreciate some of the lesser known facts from around the world.
Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster were classmates at Glenville High in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1934 when they came up with the idea of “Superman.” Four years later, they signed away all rights to DC Comics–for $130.
The word “nerd” was coined by Dr. Seuss in his book, If I Ran the Zoo.
These facts have been discovered in I NEVER KNEW THAT by David Hoffman (2009).
these are fun to read; look forward to more of them…

Good comeback! Only in America, can we become paranoid about simple, blue mailboxes.

I think it’s more a question of mail theft and the Post Office trying to reduce work loads (picking up mail from those boxes).

I have a system using multiple piles, shuffling, and the first few Fibonacci numbers as an improvement over multiple shuffles.

Michael, thanks for sharing. My wife and I play some card games, and we have out own unique way of shuffling the cards. For some reason, it leads to more luck for me.

I guess so. It can be amazing how “accidents” bring about names like this.

You got it Jim! The creators did end up working for DC Comics and did much of the early work with it.

Gotcha; are you a fan of DC comics?

I am not really much a comics fan. When I was growing up, my fascination was with sports–playing and reading about real-life athletes.
