This quote is soooo true. When will we learn? How can we know when we vote that we are choosing someone who can set aside “their interests” and vote in the interest of their constituents? That’s the big question. Does being in office corrupt the one who entered the race as a purist?
Jan, your questions are thought-provoking. If we could turn off social media for a few weeks, the candidates would have to resort to good old-fashioned campaigning (from their front yards).
I am so disgusted with Trump using press conferences where he is s’posed to be giving COVID updates (Heaven help us) to campaign and bad mouth “them” instead. Bad news!!
Like the Dems don’t do the EXACT same thing every chance they get. Everybody’s corrupt. So to answer your earlier question, yep. Power inherently corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. The longer any politician has it, the more of a god complex they get.
It was bad then also. I’s listen to Reagan’s speeches on the radio and then hear them constantly misquoted. NOW, it’s like the brakes have been taken off the train and neither side cares.
And there you go; everything wrong with government currently. 🙂

John Rawls has some unique perspectives about our political system. I will share more down the road. Hope you are doing well in your new place.

The two statements thus far are simply expectations of moral leadership. I’d agree that’s unique anymore, but it’s sad that it is so.
We’re a couple months in now and adjusting nicely 🙂

I always appreciate your thoughts. The political process has evolved into something quite different from the 70s and 80s.
